1 Samuel 21:8-9 ESV

Then David said to Ahimelech, “Then have you not here a spear or a sword at hand? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.” And the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you struck down in the Valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it, for there is none but that here.” And David said, “There is none like that; give it to me.”

When David was running for his life from King Saul, he stopped by the tabernacle of the Lord at Nob. When he asked if they had any weapons on hand, Abimelech gave him the sword of Goliath. David said there was no other sword like it.

This is epic. It sounds almost like one of the legends of King Arthur.

We also have a weapon like no other, the sword of the Spirit–the Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12 ESV

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The time for weak, nominal Christianity is over. Now is the time for the army of Christ to mobilize. We have been far too tolerant of immorality, injustice, and Biblical illiteracy. We have God’s Word–let’s arm ourselves with it!

2 Timothy 3:16-18 ESV

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work

We already have the victory, we just need to take it!

Satan and his hordes were stripped of their power and authority at the cross, and Jesus Christ has given us power and authority over them. We need to stop fearing, and start fighting the forces of evil.
