Genesis 6:11-12 ESV

Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence. And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

Humanity had progressively grown more and more wicked. Now God decided to do something about it.

Genesis 6:13 ESV

And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

God justly decided to destroy the earth because of humanity’s sins. Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8, ESV), so God decided to tell Noah what He was about to do. Noah walked with God as Enoch had walked with God. Noah was God’s friend, and he heard from God. Noah was a prophetic voice for his generation For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets (Amos 3:7, ESV). The Scripture confirms this by calling Noah a herald of righteousness (2 Peter 2:5).

God told Noah that He was about to destroy the earth, not only because Noah had His favor, but so that he could warn the sinful people around him. God still gave them a chance to repent by sounding the alarm through His servant Noah.

Matthew 24:37-39 ESV

For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Those of us who have the Lord’s favor need to warn others of the coming judgment. It may not be politically correct, but if they do not know what they’re being saved from, it will be hard to convince them they need to be saved.
