Genesis 1:2 ESV

The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The best explanation for any order in the universe is that a powerful and intelligent being designed and ordered it. Order cannot arise from unguided, random atoms and purely physical forces. In fact, according to the Second Law of Thermodynamics (also known as the Law of Entropy), the opposite is true. The universe is breaking down, decaying, and running out of usable energy.

Even Richard Dawkins, the world-famous zoologist and outspoken Atheist, admits the universe “appears” to have been designed. He says that the amoeba, which we think of as a “simple” creature holds information in its DNA equivalent to about 1,000 copies of Encyclopedia Britannica! Where did all this information come from?

The naturalistic explanation is lacking. No rational human being actually believes that something can come from nothing, that consciousness arises from non-consciousness, that meaning arises meaningless matter, or that information can arise from anything other than an intelligent being.

If we begin by assuming the atheistic worldview is true, we are simply an accidental conglomeration of cells. This would also mean we have no free will or rational thought. “Thoughts” of any kind are simply chemical reactions guided only by unthinking, unfeeling Mother Nature. Everything in the universe is determined by physical laws. I believe in God because nature determines it, and you do not believe in God because nature determines it. If you are right, it is purely by accident. You’re just molecules in motion, and you don’t actually “know” anything. The same is true for me. Thus the atheistic worldview saws off the very limb of science and reason that it rests upon.

If the whole universe had no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, of there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.~C.S. Lewis

The information contained in DNA is just one example of fine-tuning. There is a great abundance of evidence for the fine tuning of the universe, physical life, intelligent life and other areas. It would make for a thick book rather than a blog post, so I suggest for more information you go the website of Reasons to Believe.

God creates order out of chaos.
